So I says to him, I says...

Probably the last thing the world needs right now is another Blog. The Interweb indicates that at present, over 600 million Blogs exist on this planet of ours.

But the Lord hates a coward, so here I go…

Writing has always been a passion of mine. In high school I wrote our school news update, which was published in the local community newspaper. At the University of Guelph, I worked part-time at both the Ontarian and campus radio station CFRU. And throughout my career I have contributed columns, articles and opinion pieces for our clients and in support of the agencies I worked for.

Sadly, I have never really taken the time to properly hone my craft. Professionals like Owen Roberts and Jane Robinson have assisted me over the years, but even they could only kick my ass so far down the line.

I have always been inspired by Stephen King. I think he nails the conundrum of the reluctant writer accurately and succinctly in his book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. To wit, “If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot. There's no way around these two things that I'm aware of, no shortcut.”

This Blog is my attempt at finally getting my shit together and write something that you, constant reader, will get value from. And attempt to scratch my writing itch at the same time.

In terms of subject matter, I will focus on marketing, business, autism, drums, life, love and everything in between. I think we all have many sides and facets, so rather than limit the scope, let’s make it a free for all!

I will keep it short – will aim for a reading time of less than three minutes for each article. Those who know me will understand this will be amongst my greatest  challenges.

In terms of frequency, well, let’s see how it goes. Weekly feels like a bit much, monthly maybe not enough. So stay tuned on that front.

Overall I aim to brighten your day just a little bit, maybe get you thinking about something you may not have otherwise, entertain, inform, incite – who knows!

So here goes – wish me luck!
